After graduating from Oregon State University  in 1991, Lance went to work for Pricewaterhouse Coopers LLC at age 21 and earned CPA in 1993.  Lance initially started in audit department and SEC companies, which helped him see large transactions and complex tax issues. Lance transitioned to focusing on small business taxation, personal planning and transactional issues. Lance was a CFO for two years to a multi-million dollar company and started his own firm in 2004. Lance has extensive experience in personal income tax and small business. His off-the-job interests include being married to his college sweetheart and having two boys in college and beyond.

Lance feels his biggest strength is having life experiences that can help his clients with their decisions. He has learned how to start this CPA business and many other companies, enjoys and understands family transitional issues (college, medical issues, etc) and is a a good sounding board for choices in life.  He has a passion for small business clients and commercial real estate and helping his clients succeed.

Zack Harmon serves as lead for Capstone’s audit and attestation practice. Primary industries of focus are not for profit organizations, employee benefit plans and construction contractors.  He also works with individuals and small businesses for tax preparation and planning.

Zack holds a Bachelor of Science in Business with a focus in Accounting and a Minor in Economics from Western Oregon University and currently serves as Vice Chair on the Board of the Redmond Area Parks and Recreation District and the Finance Committee of NeighborImpact.  He has previously served on the Board of NeighborImpact and Partnership to End Poverty. He enjoys spending time with his wife and three sons and anything sports related.

Greg manages Capstone’s tax practice in Bend, Oregon. He oversees the entire tax process from document drop-off through completion, assisting staff in various complexities, reviewing returns and providing tax advice. Greg has a broad range of tax experience in various industries, including real estate, entertainment/advertising, manufacturing, medical, and legal to name a few. As a CPA, he believes the tax process does not end when a client’s 1040 is filed—he looks at what may be advantageous in the long term based on each client’s specific plans, and then begins to build a tax strategy to work toward those goals.

Greg earned an M.B.A. in entrepreneurship from the University of Oklahoma, as well as his CPA. He has been named to “Accomplished under 40” in Central Oregon.

In his free time, Greg enjoys outdoor sports, including trail running, biking, and fly fishing, and he loves to watch college football. He also serves on the board of a local nonprofit organization.

James (Jim) Hutchens is a Certified Public Accountant located in Sandpoint, Idaho. He graduated from Eastern Washington University in 1980 with a degree in professional accounting. Jim became partner in a CPA firm in 1998 and became the sole owner in 2004. Jim has extensive expertise in corporate, individual and partnership returns. Jim is married to Patty Hutchens, his wife of 27 years. They have two grown sons.

Tim is the founder and principal shareholder of Amicus Law Group, PC. He seeks to help clients minimize their legal, financial and tax exposure, while creating estate plans that carry out their goals for financial and personal legacies for their families and organizations that are important to them. Many of his clients are closely held businesses and their owners, and Tim leads the firm’s effort to integrate tax and estate planning into advice on business formation, real estate investments, transaction consulting and ownership succession. As the owner of a law firm for more than 20 years, he has real-world experience addressing issues and concerns that are similar to those faced by the firm’s business-owner clients.

Tim has nearly 40 years of experience providing services to clients, with a particular and rare combination of legal and accounting knowledge and skills that help address multiple issues facing clients. A graduate with distinction from the University of Iowa College of Law, Tim has been in private practice since 1985, beginning his career as a tax advisor at the public accounting firm of Deloitte and Touche. He opened his own practice in 1994 and founded Amicus Law Group in 2001. He is admitted to practice law in the state of Washington.

Tim believes strongly in giving back to his community, having held leadership positions in a number of nonprofit organizations and helping several others with gift giving strategies for their supporters. He feels blessed to have healthy children and a new grandchild to spend time with and watch grow.

George works with the Capstone CPAs on a wide range of tax returns, including estate, business, trust, gift and personal tax returns.  George and the Capstone team assists numerous high net wealth clients who own businesses, hold real estate, and otherwise have complex tax issues.

George earned a Master of Laws in taxation from the University of Washington, a Juris Doctor* from the University of Oregon and a Bachelor of Arts from Washington University in St. Louis. He is a member of the Washington State Bar Association (WSBA), a past president of the WSBA Tax Section, and has been a member of the WBSA Tax Section Executive Committee for more than seven years. He frequently gives continuing education presentations on a variety of tax-related topics.

In his free time, George enjoys skiing, hiking, cooking, traveling and the outdoors. He is a volunteer attorney for the University of Washington Federal Tax Clinic and was given a Dedicated Volunteer Service Award for 2014-2015.

* George does not practice law or otherwise act in the capacity of an attorney while providing services to clients on behalf of Capstone.

Randall Higbe is a Certified Public Accountant and works at the Prineville office. He graduated from Oregon Institute of Technology with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. Randy has been in public accounting his entire career and joined Capstone in 2022. Randy enjoys helping small businesses achieve their goals and has extensive experience with agribusiness clients. Randy and Debi have been married over thirty years. They have three children and three young grand-sons.

Bryce serves his clients as a trusted business advisor, providing audit, tax, business consultation and management advisory services.  Bryce works with a broad array of businesses including agricultural, healthcare, manufacturing, professional services, retail, and technology companies and more.  He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV) and Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF).  He is also a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and has significant experience providing fraud prevention and detection services.

In addition to his client service commitments, he closely monitors the ever-changing regulatory environment and dedicates a significant amount of time to building an understanding of the current accounting landscape.  Bryce shares this knowledge with associates, colleagues and members of the business community through seminars and presentations.

In his free time, Bryce enjoys spending time with family, camping, gardening and fly-fishing.

Dianne works with a broad array of businesses including governmental agencies,  not-for-profit organizations, manufacturing, wholesale, retail, real estate, professional, agribusiness and construction companies. Dianne serves her clients as a trusted business advisor, providing audit, tax, business consultation and management advisory services.

In addition, Dianne supports clients by providing federal and state tax compliance services and representing their interests during revenue agent examinations.

Dianne grew up in Klamath Falls and joined Rusth Spires’ predecessor firm after graduating from the University of California, Berkeley.  She was admitted to partnership in 1980.  In 1986 Dianne co-founded Rusth Spires and was a majority interest holder in the firm.

Dianne spends her free time enjoying Rocky Point and Lake of the Woods with her family.
